Drass War Memorial

Drass War Memorial is a place to commemorate the past and to give respect to our lost heroes. This attraction in Drass is a must visit place built by the Indian Army in memory of the soldiers who faced the Kargil war in 1999. Amongst all the tourist interest places in Ladakh, visiting this memorial gives a gesture, a respect to our brave heroes. At the Drass War Memorial, there is a War Gallery that showcases the war photos and it also depicts the stories of brave soldiers. An added feature in the memorial is a Sandstone wall which is inscribed with the names of the Indian army personnel who sacrificed their lives during the war.

Musko Valley

Located at the western extremity of the Ladakh region, Musko Valley was once considered glaciated and unsuitable for human life to sustain. It came into popularity during the Kargil War of 1999 when Pakistani troops infiltrated through this valley across the Line of Control. The valley now has a well settled population enjoying the stunning vistas of mountains and meadows on all sides of it! With the gurgling of Drass River flowing through it, Musko also serves as the base camp for the trek leading up to Gurez in Bandipora district of Kashmir. The valley is also known for its array of varieties of mountain flowers and most people of Musko are involved in farming and sheep rearing.

Tiger Hill

At an elevation of the 5,353 meters, Tiger Hill alias Surging Sea Hill is the highest point in the region. It is surrounded by the Tolloling Range and other ridges ranging between 5,000 to 6,500 meters. The hill overlooks the National Highway 1D, which serve as a gateway to Siachen Glacier and connecting Leh to Srinagar. Tourists can either see the view of the tiger hill from the distant valley or climb it. And if one plans to climb it then a rich history awaits them. Tiger Hill rose to prominence somewhere in 1999 when Pakistani Army captured it. And the war to recapture the Tiger Hill is considered is one of the most important wars in the history of India.

Minamarg

Situated on the trail leading towards Amarnath Minamarg rests 30 kilometres from Drass. The wonderful meadow of Minamarg rests right after Zoji La. Surrounded by the dazzling Machoi Glaciers and brimming with lush vegetation, this region is a wondrous sight. The region holds varieties of exotic flora making it a true paradise for all the nature lovers and enthusiasts.

Manman Top

One of the most important places of the region, Manman Top is located 10 kilometres from Drass and offers the most spectacular view of the entire Drass Valley and the Line of Control.A sweeping view of the surrounding mountain ranges of the great Himalayas can also be seen from here.

Laser La

The unexplored site of Laser La makes a charming hill station located about 14 kilometres from Drass . This lovely site is known for the dazzling milky white of the water that flows through here and the Laser La glacier which is located here. The enclosing Rocky Mountains give an enchanting sight from this region.The wonderful expanse of the Himalayan mountains here provides a respite from the hassles of the daily life. An adventurer’s paradise, the Himalayas are home to unbeatable landscapes providing an ideal ground for adventure activities.
