Vijay Diwas -2019

Pay a tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 Kargil conflict. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26 to commemorate India's resounding victory over Pakistan in Operation Vijay, 1999. This 20th Anniversary Kargil Vijay Diwas -2019* This year 2019 we will be *celebrating “20 Years of Victory in Kargil”* The theme for the celebration is *“Remember- Rejoice-Renew”* Remember the martyrs, Rejoice in the Victory and Renew the pledge for the future!! The Kargil war is regarded as a testimony of the Indian Army's grit and determination, in which the soldiers exhibited dauntless courage, resilience, valour and fought against all odds in bone chilling temperatures of the high altitude mountains in Kargil. The Army evicted the entrenched infiltrators from the icy heights and ensured a convincing victory for the country.

Watch Horse Polo & Archery

Polo and archery are two favourite sports of the people of Ladakh. And in the summer months, viewing these sports is a great tourist attraction. Witness the fun and fanfare of archery competitions and horse polo matches. Listen to the accompanying sounds of theSurna and Daman (the oboe and the drum). Polo is a team sport played on horseback and was introduced in the Ladakh region by the princess of Baltistan who also happened to be the mother of the then ruler of Ladakh, Singge Namgyal. Polo has over time set its root in the Ladakhi culture and has become quite popular and is played at major festivals and special occasions. However, the Ladakhi polo differs from the traditional polo played all over the world and the version played in Ladakh is slightly aggressive. The morale of the team players is boosted during the entire game by playing traditional instruments like daman and surna.

Ladakh also has around 200 Snow Leopards which is an endangered species and are the star attraction in Ladakh.  Himalayan Brown Bear a very rare wild animal in Ladakh, mostly found in four major areas of Suru, Zanskar, Drass and Kargil in the region. Himalayan brown bears have become critically endangered and is the largest mammal in the region. Ladakh houses animals like Snow Leopard, Himalayan brown bear Shapo, Tibetan Antelope, Ibex, Blue Sheep, Marmot and Tibetan Hare. Also one can spot the Golden Eagle, the Lammergeyer Vulture and the Himalayan Griffon Vulture. These bird speciesare beautiful and are regularly spotted in the park. Another destination for wildlife tourism in Ladakh is Rumbak Valley. This valley is well-stocked with species like Brown Accentor, Robin Accentor, Tickell’s Streaked Rosefinch and Fork-tailed Swift.

TIME TO TREK

As Ladakh is a region where the average elevation stands above 3,500 meters, trekking in Ladakh requires extreme fitness and acclimatization to different altitude. ATV Ride

An all-terrain vehicle (ATV), otherwise called a quad, quad bicycle, three-wheeler, four-wheeler or quadric cycle as characterized by the American National Benchmarks Organization (ANSI) is a vehicle that movements on low-weight tires, with a seat that is straddled by the administrator, alongside handlebars for guiding control. On the way near village Khalsar there is a track available to drive ATV (All Terrain Vehicles), you can enjoy the ride for Charges are Rs 1200/- for 15 minutes.
